CONTACT
I am an artist creating work under a variety of mediums: painting, photography, digital fabrications, video installation, sound, etc. I find great joy in material practice expanding on contextual research. I predominantly work with cutting wood into shapes from sketches, airbrushing the background, and oil painting the foreground. I create sound from scratch to activate the artwork beyond the two dimensional surface, giving form to what language may soften.
I am creating a flourishing ecosystem for queer omnipotence. I depict the Venus flytrap, a carnivorous plant that thrives when fed its natural food sources, symbolizing the care needed for oneâs queer identity to flourish. This plant has become a commitment to my queerness. The reference to Venus, the planet of love, intertwined with the flytrapâs sharp, eyelash/teeth-like hairs, accentuates friction between acceptance of identity and external constraints. The green skinned girl in my work is a character I named Margo, who brings the anxiety of my sexuality to human-form. Lace Lady is an embodiment of peace found in queer love. My lace flies identify a romanticization of undesirability. To paint emotion through the embodiment of life identifies queerness within my own fantastical coded language, paying homage to queer history full of coded signals.
